Rosh Hashanah, the Jewish New Year, begins this Sunday. Here are 7 ideas, shared on Fox 5 NY's Good Day New York, to make your celebration a little more elegant and festive.

Using Smitten Kitchen's challah recipe, I created a long braid and then connected the edges to make a round. I popped an oven proof bowl in the middle of the bread before baking then filled it with honey after baking. This is a gorgeous centerpiece on your dining table or buffet table.

The multitude of couscous beads and pomegranate seeds represent the number of blessings you hope to have in the new year. In a scooped out roasted squash bowl, put the couscous pomegranate mixture. You can also add silvered almonds. Recipe here. Can use store bought sugar cookie dough or our sugar cookie dough recipe. Create a stencil using a cardboard box. Shape the sugar cookie dough, bake, and outline the cookies with chocolate. Recommend getting the dough cold before baking to avoid spreading. A cute craft for kids. The plates are Chefanie.

Pop apples onto wooden skewers and include in your flower arrangements. This bud vase is from the Silver Vase set. 

Carve out little round divots in apples. Insert the taper or tea light candles. Here, we are using Painted Harvest Tapers, but you can use any of our unique candles.
