Chocolate Covered Matzah Toffee ("Crack")
Totally addictive ... one of my favorite Passover desserts.
INGREDIENTS:
- 4 square Matzah sheets
- 2.25 sticks of butter
- 1 cup brown sugar
- 1.5 cups chocolate chips
- Optional: Coarse salt, nuts, sprinkles, sesame seeds, edible gold leaf,
DIRECTIONS:
- Preheat oven to 350F
- Lay matzah sheets on a parchment lined baking sheet
- Melt butter in a sauce pan
- Mix in brown sugar
- Over a medium high flame, continuously whisk the mixture. When it is bubbly, continue whisking for 3 more minutes
- Pour the mixture over the matzah and spread evenly, so the matzah is fully covered
- Bake for 8 minutes until bubbly
- Sprinkle the chocolate chips over the matzah and bake 1 more minute
- Spread the chocolate chips evenly over the matzah
- Sprinkle any optional toppings
- Allow to harden and break into smaller pieces
- Serve
Enough for 4 people? Active time 10 minutes, total time 20 minutes.
